English Short Stories

Am I a honeybee?…and why not!

Just as a honeybee works tirelessly to gather nectar and pollen, that is how I go over various courses and academies to enrich my knowledge. With so many options out there, it is extremely easy to learn new things and grow as a person.

Just as a honeybee often flies up to 5 miles per day, that is how I dedicate long hours to achieve my personal goals. Perseverance is the key to success, and sometimes it is easy to forget that, especially when obstacles arise and make us doubt everything. A honeybee does not doubt – they do their thing no matter what. It is easy to get lost when you forget yourself in the process, but continue moving forward and you will get there… eventually.

Just as a honeybee works for the collective good of the colony, with an inherent purpose tied to the survival and success of the group, that is how I give my best to accomplish larger goals that benefit not only me, but my family and company as well. People love being a part of a society, being appreciated, and working in togetherness makes life so much easier and sweeter too. Just like honey.

I might be just like a honeybee in many ways, but there are a few things that make me happy that I am first and foremost a human being. Putting my heart and soul into creative outputs, and taking breaks now and then, enjoying life beyond work.

Unlike a honeybee, I have the gift of choice—choice to pursue what ignites my passion, the freedom to pause, reflect, and change direction. While honeybees may thrive on instinct, I thrive on creativity, the ability to dream, to innovate, and to take a moment to simply enjoy the world around me.

So, am I a honeybee? In many ways, yes. But I am also something more. I am human, and with that comes the ability to live with purpose, love deeply, and take time to savour the sweetness of life.

Magic

The weather was calm and warm, with the sun shining and few clouds over the mountains. She was sitting and staring at the horizon and thinking. So many things were on her mind, that she did not even notice the person standing next to her. The silence was all around her. Only sound present was from her own breathing. Finally, she heard a breath that was not hers. She turned her head and looked at the person. He was just bluntly staring in the same direction, without even blinking.

– What are you doing here? -she asked, not moving at all.

– I was tired of waiting. So, here I am.- he turned to face her, with a serious expression.

– Waiting for what? -she asked again, and her eyes sparkled.

– Waiting for you to tell me how you feel.

– About?

– About you.. about me.. about us.- he sat next to her.

– I am scared.. -she shivered while saying the words.
He kneeled in front of her

– Don’t be! I was scared also, but now I just want to know.
She shed a tear on her cheek, and with the trembling voice said:

– I am scared that I love you so deeply that I will not be able to live when I return back. I am scared that you will forget me and that I will be left only with my dreams. I am scared that if you hug me right now, I will melt in your arms and never let go. I have to leave, but I am scared that I am making the worst mistake in my life by going and not making you come with me. I am scared that after all of this, you will still not know the depth of my love.
His mouth started shaking.

– I am scared also. I fear that you will go and I would not be able to find you ever again. I am scared that my biggest mistake is that I never told you sooner how I feel.

– You are a magician, you always find a way.

– You are a sorceress and my way is always leading to you.
At that moment, the two of them stood up and hugged each other so tightly.

– Let’s just forget about tomorrow.- she said and her eyes closed while caressing his chest with her face.

– Tomorrow does not exist. It is only here and now, and you and me.. And see? You did not melt or fade away in my arms, so your fears are unjust.

– I already melted…

– And I will never let go…Never!
